Covered with water caltrop leaves, they adorn the pond at that time.

Swans, cranes, peacocks, cuckoos, and Tambacūḷakā;

Pampakā and Jīvaṃjīvā, they all subsist on that lake.

Owls, Poṭṭhasīsā, Kurarā, and many Senakā;

And great black birds, they all subsist on that lake.

Và những loài chim mahākāḷa, sống nương tựa vào hồ nước ấy.

Deer, wild boars, yaks, and many rhinoceroses;

Rohiccā and Sukapotā, they all subsist on that lake.

Hươu rohicca, chim sukapoṭa, sống nương tựa vào hồ nước ấy.

Lions, tigers, leopards, bears, wolves, and hyenas;

Elephants in rut, with three streams of ichor, they all subsist on that lake.

Và những con voi có ba dòng nước mật chảy ra, sống nương tựa vào hồ nước ấy.

With clear water, cool water, good bathing places, delightful.

Covered with lotuses and water lilies, endowed with white water lilies;

Covered with Mandālaka flowers, a divine fragrance wafts forth.

In that well-made, delightful hermitage, I resided at that time.

Virtuous, accomplished in observances, a meditator, always delighting in jhāna;

Pañcābhiññābalappatto, suruci nāma tāpaso.

One who had attained the power of the five abhiññā, a recluse named Suruci.

Twenty-four thousand disciples attended upon me;

All of them were Brahmins, of noble birth and renowned.

Skilled in grammar and analysis, they had reached perfection in their own doctrine.

And those wise ones are unassociated; my disciples are formidable.

“Having gathered in the morning, those ascetics with intense ascetic practices;

Lābhālābhaṃ pakittetvā, gacchanti ambare tadā.

Having announced their gains and losses, then go through the sky.
