Seeing her approaching, the mother of my son;

Adorned and well-dressed, like a noose of death laid out.
Được trang sức, mặc y phục đẹp, như một chiếc bẫy tử thần đã giăng.

Then proper attention arose in me;
Khi ấy, sự tác ý đúng đắn đã khởi lên trong tôi;

The danger became manifest, disenchantment was established.
Sự nguy hiểm hiện rõ, sự nhàm chán đã an trú.

Then my mind was liberated, see the excellent nature of the Dhamma;
Khi ấy, tâm tôi được giải thoát, hãy xem sự thiện mỹ của Giáo Pháp;

Tisso vijjā anuppattā, kataṃ buddhassa sāsana’’nti.
The three knowledges have been attained, the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled."

* ‘‘Dhammo have rakkhati dhammacāriṃ, dhammo suciṇṇo sukhamāvahati;
"Indeed, Dhamma protects the one who practices Dhamma, Dhamma well-practiced brings happiness;
“Chắc chắn Pháp bảo vệ người hành Pháp, Pháp được thực hành tốt mang lại hạnh phúc;

Esānisaṃso dhamme suciṇṇe, na duggatiṃ gacchati dhammacārī.
This is the benefit of Dhamma well-practiced: the Dhamma-practitioner does not go to a bad destination.
Đây là lợi ích của Pháp được thực hành tốt, người hành Pháp không đi đến ác đạo.

For Dhamma and Non-Dhamma, both do not have the same result;

Non-Dhamma leads to hell, Dhamma leads to a good destination.

Therefore, one should develop zeal for the Dhamma, thus rejoicing with the Tathāgata, the well-gone one;
Do đó, hãy phát sinh ước muốn đối với các Pháp, hoan hỷ như vậy với bậc Thiện Thệ, bậc như vậy;

Dhamme ṭhitā sugatavarassa sāvakā, nīyanti dhīrā saraṇavaraggagāmino.
The wise disciples of the supreme Sugata, established in Dhamma, are led to the supreme refuge.
Các đệ tử của bậc Thiện Thệ tối thượng, an trú trong Pháp, là những bậc trí tuệ, đi đến nơi nương tựa tối thượng.

The root of the boil has been burst, the net of craving has been uprooted;
Cái gốc của mụn nhọt đã bị phá vỡ, lưới ái đã bị nhổ tận gốc;

So khīṇasaṃsāro na catthi kiñcanaṃ,
He whose cycle of existence is exhausted has nothing left,
Vị ấy đã tận diệt luân hồi, không còn gì nữa,

Like the moon on a cloudless full-moon night."

"When the cranes with pure white wings, frightened by the dark cloud;
“Khi những con cò trắng tinh khiết, sợ hãi bởi những đám mây đen;

Palehiti ālayamālayesinī, tadā nadī ajakaraṇī rameti maṃ.
Flee, seeking shelter, then the Ajākaraṇī River delights me.
Bay về tổ của mình, tìm nơi trú ẩn, thì dòng sông Ajakaraṇī làm tôi hoan hỷ.

“When the cranes, exceedingly pure and white, are terrified by the fear of the dark cloud,
Khi những con cò trắng tinh khiết, sợ hãi bởi những đám mây đen;

Pariyesati leṇamaleṇadassinī, tadā nadī ajakaraṇī rameti maṃ.
And the one who sees no refuge seeks a refuge, then the Ajakaraṇī river delights me.
Tìm kiếm hang động, không thấy nơi trú ẩn, thì dòng sông Ajakaraṇī làm tôi hoan hỷ.

Tato saddhaṃ paṭilabhiṃ, daḷhavīriyo parakkamiṃ.
Then I gained faith, and with firm energy, I strove.
Rồi tôi có được niềm tin, với tinh tấn kiên cường, tôi đã nỗ lực.

Let my shanks fall off from both knee-joints.
