Te accimantova pabhāsayanti, samayo mahāvīra bhāgī rasānaṃ.

They shine forth as if aflame, it is time, Great Hero, to partake of the essence.

Chúng rực rỡ như có lửa, đây là thời điểm, Đại Hùng, để hưởng hương vị (của sự viếng thăm).

‘‘The trees are in full bloom, delightful, fragrant in all directions;

Cây cối nở hoa đẹp mắt, hương thơm lan tỏa khắp mọi hướng;

Pattaṃ pahāya phalamāsasānā^* , kālo ito pakkamanāya vīra.

Having shed their leaves, desiring fruit, it is time, Hero, to depart from here.

Chúng đã rụng lá, mong chờ kết quả, Hùng giả, đây là lúc để lên đường.

‘‘It is neither too cold nor too hot, venerable sir, the season is pleasant for traveling;

Bạch Thế Tôn, không quá lạnh cũng không quá nóng, mùa này thật dễ chịu cho cuộc hành trình;

Passantu taṃ sākiyā koḷiyā ca, pacchāmukhaṃ rohiniyaṃ tarantaṃ.

Let the Sakiyas and Koliyas see you crossing the Rohiṇī river, facing west.

Mong cho dòng họ Sakya và Koliya được thấy Ngài vượt sông Rohiṇī về phía tây.

‘‘Āsāya kasate khettaṃ, bījaṃ āsāya vappati;

‘‘With hope, one ploughs the field; with hope, one sows the seed;

Vì hy vọng mà cày ruộng, vì hy vọng mà gieo hạt;

Āsāya vāṇijā yanti, samuddaṃ dhanahārakā;

With hope, merchants travel to the sea, seeking wealth;

Vì hy vọng mà thương nhân ra biển tìm tài sản;

Yāya āsāya tiṭṭhāmi, sā me āsā samijjhatu.

May that hope by which I stand be fulfilled for me.

Hy vọng nào khiến con đứng đây, mong hy vọng ấy thành tựu.

‘‘Again and again they sow the seed, again and again the king of gods rains;

Lại nữa, người ta gieo hạt nhiều lần, chúa trời lại mưa nhiều lần;

Punappunaṃ khettaṃ kasanti kassakā, punappunaṃ dhaññamupeti raṭṭhaṃ.

Again and again farmers plough the field, again and again grain comes to the country.

Nông dân cày ruộng nhiều lần, mùa màng lại đến với đất nước nhiều lần.

‘‘Again and again beggars wander, again and again donors give;

Người hành khất lại đi xin nhiều lần, người bố thí lại cho nhiều lần;

Punappunaṃ dānapatī daditvā, punappunaṃ saggamupenti ṭhānaṃ.

Having given again and again, donors again and again go to a heavenly abode.

Người bố thí đã cho nhiều lần, lại được sinh lên cõi trời nhiều lần.

‘‘Indeed, a hero brings benefit to seven generations, in whichever family the greatly wise one is born;

Quả thật, một bậc anh hùng có trí tuệ lớn sẽ làm lợi ích cho bảy đời gia tộc, nơi ngài sinh ra;

Maññāmahaṃ sakkati devadevo, tayā hi jāto^* muni saccanāmo.

I believe the God of gods is capable, for you are the true-named sage, born of you.

Con nghĩ rằng, Đức Thiên Trung Thiên có thể làm được điều đó, vì Ngài, vị Thánh giả mang tên Chân Lý, đã sinh ra.

‘‘Suddhodano nāma pitā mahesino, buddhassa mātā pana māyanāmā;

‘‘The father of the great sage was named Suddhodana, and the Buddha’s mother was named Māyā;

Phụ thân của Đức Thế Tôn là Tịnh Phạn Vương, mẫu thân là Maya;

Yā bodhisattaṃ parihariya kucchinā, kāyassa bhedā tidivamhi modati.

She, having carried the Bodhisatta in her womb, rejoices in heaven after the breaking up of the body.

Bà đã mang Bồ Tát trong bụng, sau khi thân hoại mạng chung, bà hưởng lạc trên cõi trời.

‘‘Sā gotamī kālakatā ito cutā, dibbehi kāmehi samaṅgibhūtā;

‘‘That Gotamī, having died and passed away from here, endowed with divine pleasures;

Vị Gotamī ấy, sau khi mệnh chung từ đây, đã sinh về cõi trời, đầy đủ các dục lạc thiên giới;

Sā modati kāmaguṇehi pañcahi, parivāritā devagaṇehi tehi.

She rejoices with the five strands of sensual pleasure, surrounded by those hosts of devas.

Bà hưởng lạc với năm món dục lạc, được các chúng thiên nhân ấy vây quanh.

Con là con của Đức Phật, bậc bất khả chiến bại, bậc Angīrasa vô song, bậc như thật;

Pitupitā mayhaṃ tuvaṃsi sakka, dhammena me gotama ayyakosī’’ti.

You, Sakka, are my father’s father; by the Dhamma, Gotama, you are my grandfather.’’

Đại vương là cha của cha con, Gotama, về mặt Pháp, Ngài là ông của con.”

It is exceedingly comfortable for one dwelling alone in the forest.

Thì thật là an lạc khi sống một mình trong rừng.

‘‘Come, I will go alone to the forest praised by the Buddha;

Này, ta sẽ đi một mình, vào rừng được Đức Phật ca ngợi;

Phāsu^* ekavihārissa, pahitattassa bhikkhuno.

It is comfortable for a bhikkhu dwelling alone, with mind directed to the goal.

Thật an lạc cho vị tỳ khưu sống độc cư, đã tinh tấn.

‘‘Delightful, bringing joy to the yogi, frequented by intoxicated elephants;

I, alone and self-controlled, will quickly enter the grove.

Having bathed my body, I will walk alone.

‘‘Alone, without a second, in a delightful great forest;

Một mình, không bạn đồng hành, trong khu rừng lớn đẹp đẽ;

When shall I dwell, my task accomplished, free from āsavas?

Khi nào ta sẽ sống như vậy, đã hoàn thành phận sự, không lậu hoặc?

‘‘May my aspiration be fulfilled, as I wish to do this;

Nguyện ước của ta muốn làm điều này, mong cho nó thành tựu;

I myself will accomplish it, no other is the doer for another.

Chính ta sẽ tự hoàn thành, không ai khác làm thay cho người khác.

‘‘I will gird myself, I will enter the grove;

Ta sẽ thắt chặt giáp trụ (tinh tấn), ta sẽ vào rừng;

Na tato nikkhamissāmi, appatto āsavakkhayaṃ.

I will not emerge from there until I have attained the destruction of the āsavas.

Ta sẽ không rời khỏi đó, cho đến khi chưa đạt đến sự diệt tận các lậu hoặc.

‘‘As the cool, fragrant wind blows;

Khi gió mát, thơm tho thoảng qua;

I will shatter ignorance, seated on the mountaintop.

Ta sẽ phá tan vô minh, ngồi trên đỉnh núi.

‘‘In the forest covered with flowers, in a truly cool mountain cave;

Trong rừng đầy hoa, chắc chắn trong hang núi mát mẻ;

Happy with the happiness of liberation, I will delight in the mountain peak.

An lạc với niềm an lạc giải thoát, ta sẽ sống vui trên núi cao.

‘‘So I, with my resolve fulfilled, like the moon on the fifteenth day;

Như trăng rằm, ta đã hoàn thành ước nguyện;

Sabbāsavaparikkhīṇo, natthi dāni punabbhavo’’ti.

All āsavas exhausted, there is no more rebirth.’’

Mọi lậu hoặc đã tận diệt, không còn tái sinh nữa.”
