“One should not exalt oneself nor disparage others, nor look down on others, nor provoke one who has reached the other shore;

Na cattavaṇṇaṃ parisāsu byāhare, anuddhato sammitabhāṇi subbato.

Nor should one proclaim one's own virtues in assemblies, but be humble, speak moderately, and be of good conduct.

Không tự khen mình trong các hội chúng, không kiêu ngạo, nói năng chừng mực, giữ giới hạnh tốt đẹp.”

By one who discerns subtle and profound meanings, who is skilled in wisdom, and of humble demeanor;

Saṃsevitavuddhasīlinā, nibbānaṃ na hi tena dullabha’’nti.

By one who cultivates the virtues praised by the Buddhas, Nibbāna is not difficult to attain.”

“The peacocks cry, with beautiful crests and lovely tails, with dark blue necks, beautiful faces, and melodious calls;

“Những con công có mào đẹp, đuôi đẹp, cổ xanh biếc, mặt đẹp, tiếng gáy hay đang hót;

Susaddalā cāpi mahāmahī ayaṃ, subyāpitambu suvalāhakaṃ nabhaṃ.

This great earth is also beautifully green, the water is well-spread, and the sky is full of clouds.

Mặt đất này cũng xanh tươi, nước tràn đầy, bầu trời đầy mây trắng.”

‘‘Sukallarūpo sumanassa jhāyataṃ^* , sunikkamo sādhu subuddhasāsane;

For those with a wholesome mind who meditate, it is a good and proper time to depart, in the good Dispensation of the Buddha;

“Thân thể khỏe mạnh, tâm hoan hỷ khi thiền định, sự xuất ly trong giáo pháp của Đức Phật là tốt đẹp;

Susukkasukkaṃ nipuṇaṃ sududdasaṃ, phusāhi taṃ uttamamaccutaṃ pada’’nti.

Attain that supreme, unmoving state, which is very pure, subtle, and very difficult to see.”

Hãy chứng ngộ cảnh giới tối thượng, bất biến, vô cùng thanh tịnh, vi tế và khó thấy ấy!”

Tena teneva vajasi, yena sūlaṃ kaliṅgaraṃ.

You go wherever there are stakes, wherever there are thorny branches (of sense pleasures).

Ngươi cứ đi đến nơi có cây cọc nhọn, nơi có những chồi non của sự tồn tại.

Therefore, I call you a wicked mind, I call you a treacherous mind;

Satthā te dullabho laddho, mānatthe maṃ niyojayī’’ti.

You have found the Teacher, who is difficult to find, do not engage me in what is unprofitable!”

all destinies are uprooted; now there is no more rebirth.”
