220. Ekaṃ samayaṃ āyasmā vaṅgīso sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme.

220. On one occasion Ven. Vaṅgīsa was dwelling in Sāvatthī, in Jeta's Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika's Park.

Một thời, Tôn giả Vaṅgīsa đang an trú tại Sāvatthī, trong khu vườn Jetavana của ông Anāthapiṇḍika.

Tena kho pana samayena āyasmā vaṅgīso aciraarahattappatto hutvā^* vimuttisukhaṃ paṭisaṃvedī^* tāyaṃ velāyaṃ imā gāthāyo abhāsi –

At that time, Ven. Vaṅgīsa, having recently attained arahantship, was experiencing the bliss of liberation, and on that occasion, he uttered these verses:

Vào lúc đó, Tôn giả Vaṅgīsa vừa mới chứng A-la-hán, đang cảm nhận niềm an lạc của sự giải thoát (vimuttisukhaṃ), và vào thời điểm ấy, Ngài đã nói những bài kệ này:

‘‘Kāveyyamattā vicarimha pubbe, gāmā gāmaṃ purā puraṃ;

"Intoxicated with poetry, we wandered before, from village to village, from town to town.

“Trước đây, chúng tôi lang thang từ làng này sang làng khác, từ thị trấn này sang thị trấn khác, say mê thi ca.

Athaddasāma sambuddhaṃ, saddhā no upapajjatha.

Then we saw the Perfectly Enlightened One, and faith arose in us.

Rồi chúng tôi thấy một vị Phật Toàn Giác, và niềm tin đã khởi lên trong chúng tôi.

‘‘So me dhammamadesesi, khandhāyatanadhātuyo^* ;

He taught me the Dhamma: the aggregates, sense bases, and elements;

Ngài đã thuyết giảng giáo pháp cho tôi, về các uẩn, xứ và giới;

Tassāhaṃ dhammaṃ sutvāna, pabbajiṃ anagāriyaṃ.

Having heard his Dhamma, I went forth into homelessness.

Sau khi nghe giáo pháp của Ngài, tôi đã xuất gia, từ bỏ đời sống gia đình.

‘‘Bahunnaṃ vata atthāya, bodhiṃ ajjhagamā muni;

Indeed, for the benefit of many, the Sage attained enlightenment;

Thật vậy, bậc Thánh đã đạt được giác ngộ vì lợi ích của nhiều người;

Bhikkhūnaṃ bhikkhunīnañca, ye niyāmagataddasā.

for bhikkhus and bhikkhunīs, who saw the certainty.

Của các Tỳ-khưu và Tỳ-khưu-ni, những người đã thấy con đường Niệm (Niyāma).

‘‘Svāgataṃ vata me āsi, mama buddhassa santike;

Indeed, my coming was a good coming, into the presence of the Buddha;

Thật vậy, tôi đã đến đúng lúc, bên cạnh Đức Phật của tôi;

Tisso vijjā anuppattā, kataṃ buddhassa sāsanaṃ.

The three knowledges have been attained, the Buddha's dispensation has been fulfilled.

Ba Minh đã được thành tựu, giáo huấn của Đức Phật đã được thực hiện.

‘‘Pubbenivāsaṃ jānāmi, dibbacakkhuṃ visodhitaṃ;

I know my past lives, the divine eye has been purified;

Tôi biết các kiếp sống trước, nhãn thần đã được thanh tịnh;

Tevijjo iddhipattomhi, cetopariyāyakovido’’ti.

I am a possessor of the three knowledges, endowed with psychic powers, skilled in discerning others' minds."

Tôi là bậc Tam Minh, đã đạt được thần thông, tinh thông tâm thông.”
