132. Tena samayena buddho bhagavā rājagahe viharati gijjhakūṭe pabbate.
At that time the Buddha, the Blessed One, was dwelling in Rājagaha, on Gijjhakūṭa Mountain.
132. Vào lúc đó, Đức Phật, Thế Tôn, đang ngự tại Rājagaha, trên núi Gijjhakūṭa.
Tena kho pana samayena aññatitthiyā paribbājakā cātuddase pannarase aṭṭhamiyā ca pakkhassa sannipatitvā dhammaṃ bhāsanti.
Now at that time, other sect ascetics assembled on the fourteenth, fifteenth, and eighth days of the fortnight and preached the Dhamma.

Te manussā upasaṅkamanti dhammassavanāya.
People approached them to listen to the Dhamma.

Te labhanti aññatitthiyesu paribbājakesu pemaṃ, labhanti pasādaṃ, labhanti aññatitthiyā paribbājakā pakkhaṃ.
They gained affection for the other sect ascetics, they gained faith, and the other sect ascetics gained a following.
Họ có được tình cảm với các du sĩ ngoại đạo, có được sự tín tâm, và các du sĩ ngoại đạo có được sự ủng hộ.
Atha kho rañño māgadhassa seniyassa bimbisārassa rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi – ‘‘etarahi kho aññatitthiyā paribbājakā cātuddase pannarase aṭṭhamiyā ca pakkhassa sannipatitvā dhammaṃ bhāsanti.
Then King Seniya Bimbisāra of Magadha, being in seclusion and privacy, had this thought arise in his mind: “Now these other sect ascetics assemble on the fourteenth, fifteenth, and eighth days of the fortnight and preach the Dhamma.

Atha kho rājā māgadho seniyo bimbisāro yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi.
Then King Seniya Bimbisāra of Magadha approached the Blessed One, and having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he sat down to one side.
Sau đó, vua Seniya Bimbisāra của Magadha đi đến chỗ Đức Thế Tôn, sau khi đảnh lễ Đức Thế Tôn, ông ngồi xuống một bên.
Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho rājā māgadho seniyo bimbisāro bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘idha mayhaṃ, bhante, rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi ‘etarahi kho aññatitthiyā paribbājakā cātuddase pannarase aṭṭhamiyā ca pakkhassa sannipatitvā dhammaṃ bhāsanti.
Sitting to one side, King Seniya Bimbisāra of Magadha said to the Blessed One: “Here, venerable sir, while I was in seclusion and privacy, this thought arose in my mind: ‘Now these other sect ascetics assemble on the fourteenth, fifteenth, and eighth days of the fortnight and preach the Dhamma.
Khi đã ngồi xuống một bên, vua Seniya Bimbisāra của Magadha bạch Đức Thế Tôn rằng: “Bạch Ngài, khi con đang ở một mình, tĩnh lặng, một ý nghĩ như sau khởi lên trong tâm con: ‘Hiện nay, các du sĩ ngoại đạo tụ họp vào ngày mười bốn, mười lăm và mùng tám của nửa tháng để thuyết pháp.

“Lành thay, bạch Ngài, các bậc Tôn giả cũng nên tụ họp vào ngày mười bốn, mười lăm và mùng tám của nửa tháng.”
Atha kho bhagavā rājānaṃ māgadhaṃ seniyaṃ bimbisāraṃ dhammiyā kathāya sandassesi samādapesi samuttejesi sampahaṃsesi.
Then the Blessed One instructed, encouraged, inspired, and gladdened King Seniya Bimbisāra of Magadha with a Dhamma talk.
Sau đó, Đức Thế Tôn đã thuyết pháp, khích lệ, động viên và làm cho vua Seniya Bimbisāra của Magadha hoan hỷ.
Atha kho rājā māgadho seniyo bimbisāro bhagavatā dhammiyā kathāya sandassito samādapito samuttejito sampahaṃsito uṭṭhāyāsanā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā pakkāmi.
Then King Seniya Bimbisāra of Magadha, instructed, encouraged, inspired, and gladdened by the Blessed One with a Dhamma talk, rose from his seat, paid homage to the Blessed One, circumambulated him keeping his right side towards him, and departed.
Sau đó, vua Seniya Bimbisāra của Magadha, sau khi được Đức Thế Tôn thuyết pháp, khích lệ, động viên và làm cho hoan hỷ, đã đứng dậy khỏi chỗ ngồi, đảnh lễ Đức Thế Tôn, đi nhiễu bên phải rồi rời đi.
Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, cātuddase pannarase aṭṭhamiyā ca pakkhassa sannipatitu’’nti.
Then, on this occasion, in this connection, the Blessed One gave a Dhamma talk and addressed the bhikkhus: “I allow, bhikkhus, to assemble on the fourteenth, fifteenth, and eighth days of the fortnight.”
Sau đó, Đức Thế Tôn, nhân dịp này, nhân sự việc này, đã thuyết pháp và gọi các Tỳ-kheo mà nói: “Này các Tỳ-kheo, Ta cho phép tụ họp vào ngày mười bốn, mười lăm và mùng tám của nửa tháng.”
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū – bhagavatā anuññātā cātuddase pannarase aṭṭhamiyā ca pakkhassa sannipatitunti – cātuddase pannarase aṭṭhamiyā ca pakkhassa sannipatitvā tuṇhī nisīdanti.
At that time, the bhikkhus—having been permitted by the Blessed One to gather on the fourteenth, fifteenth, and eighth days of the fortnight—having gathered on the fourteenth, fifteenth, and eighth days of the fortnight, sat in silence.
Vào lúc bấy giờ, các Tỳ-khưu – đã được Thế Tôn cho phép tập hợp vào ngày 14, ngày 15 và ngày 8 của nửa tháng – sau khi tập hợp vào ngày 14, ngày 15 và ngày 8 của nửa tháng thì ngồi im lặng.
Te manussā upasaṅkamanti dhammassavanāya.
People approached them to listen to the Dhamma.
Những người ấy đến gần các Tỳ-khưu để nghe Pháp.
Te ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma samaṇā sakyaputtiyā cātuddase pannarase aṭṭhamiyā ca pakkhassa sannipatitvā tuṇhī nisīdissanti, seyyathāpi mūgasūkarā.
They complained, grumbled, and criticized: “How can these Sakyan ascetics gather on the fourteenth, fifteenth, and eighth days of the fortnight and sit in silence, just like mute hogs?
Những người ấy phàn nàn, bực bội, chê bai rằng: “Sao các Sa-môn Thích tử này lại có thể tập hợp vào ngày 14, ngày 15 và ngày 8 của nửa tháng rồi ngồi im lặng như những con heo câm vậy?
Nanu nāma sannipatitehi dhammo bhāsitabbo’’ti.
Surely, when gathered, the Dhamma should be spoken.”
Chẳng lẽ khi đã tập hợp thì không nên thuyết Pháp sao?”
Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tesaṃ manussānaṃ ujjhāyantānaṃ khiyyantānaṃ vipācentānaṃ.
The bhikkhus heard those people complaining, grumbling, and criticizing.
Các Tỳ-khưu đã nghe những người ấy phàn nàn, bực bội, chê bai.
Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ…pe… atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, cātuddase pannarase aṭṭhamiyā ca pakkhassa sannipatitvā dhammaṃ bhāsitu’’nti.
Then those bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One…pe… Then the Blessed One, on this occasion and in this connection, gave a Dhamma talk and addressed the bhikkhus: “I permit, bhikkhus, having gathered on the fourteenth, fifteenth, and eighth days of the fortnight, to speak the Dhamma.”
Rồi các Tỳ-khưu ấy đã trình bày sự việc này lên Thế Tôn… (văn bản tương tự)… Rồi Thế Tôn, nhân duyên này, nhân sự việc này, đã thuyết Pháp và gọi các Tỳ-khưu: “Này các Tỳ-khưu, Ta cho phép sau khi tập hợp vào ngày 14, ngày 15 và ngày 8 của nửa tháng thì thuyết Pháp.”
