Tathāgato yo karuṇākaro karo,

The Tathāgata, who, making compassion,

Payāta’mosajja sukhappadaṃ padaṃ;

attained the state that gives happiness;

Akā paratthaṃ kalisambhave bhave,

and performed for the welfare of others in this realm born of defilements;

I pay homage to him, who performed utterly difficult deeds.

Apūjayuṃ yaṃ munikuñjarā jarā,

That which the foremost sages worshipped,

where those freed from old age, sickness, and so forth, cross over to the excellent shore;

Ṭhitā tivaṭṭambunidhiṃ narānarā,

having stood, men and devas cross the ocean of the three rounds (of existence),

Tariṃsu taṃ dhammamaghappahaṃ pahaṃ.

I pay homage to that Dhamma, the dispeller of sin and light.

And the Saṅgha, who have attained the state of children born from the Munīndo's breast, worthy of praise,

Supuññakhettaṃ bhuvane sutaṃ sutaṃ;

a supreme field of merit, known throughout the world,

who have taken restraint as their life, the best,

Since skill in nouns and genders is the cause of determining meaning,
