Dhīrehi magganāyena, yena buddhena desitaṃ;

By the path of the wise, taught by the Buddha,

Sitaṃ dhammamidhaññāya, ñāyate amataṃ padaṃ.

Understanding this praised Dhamma, the Deathless State is known.

Taṃ namitvā mahāvīraṃ, sabbaññuṃ lokanāyakaṃ;

Having paid homage to that Great Hero, the Omniscient One, the Guide of the world;

Con xin đảnh lễ bậc Đại Hùng, bậc Toàn Tri, bậc Lãnh đạo thế gian ấy;

Mahākāruṇikaṃ seṭṭhaṃ, visuddhaṃ suddhidāyakaṃ.

The Greatly Compassionate, the Foremost, the Pure, the Bestower of Purity.

Bậc Đại Bi, tối thượng, thanh tịnh, ban sự thanh tịnh.

Saddhammañcassa pūjetvā, suddhaṃ santamasaṅkhataṃ;

And having revered his True Dhamma, which is pure, peaceful, unconditioned;

Và con xin cúng dường Chánh Pháp của Ngài, thanh tịnh, tịch tịnh, vô vi;

Atakkāvacaraṃ suṭṭhu, vibhattaṃ madhuraṃ sivaṃ.

Perfectly beyond logic, well-expounded, sweet, and auspicious.

Vượt ngoài sự suy luận, rất vi diệu, phân loại rõ ràng, ngọt ngào, an lành.

Saṅghassa ca’ñjaliṃ katvā, puññakkhettassa tādino;

And having made obeisance to the Saṅgha, the field of merit for those who are thus;

Và con xin chắp tay đảnh lễ Tăng chúng, ruộng phước của bậc như vậy;

Sīlasamādhipaññādi-visuddhaguṇajotino.

Who shine with the pure qualities of morality, concentration, wisdom, and so forth.

Soi sáng các đức tính thanh tịnh như giới, định, tuệ.

Namassanādipuññassa, katassa ratanattaye;

By the power of the merit gained from paying homage and so forth to the Triple Gem;

Nhờ oai lực của công đức đảnh lễ và các công đức khác,

Tejasāhaṃ pahantvāna, antarāye asesato.

May I completely overcome all obstacles.

Đã được thực hiện đối với Tam Bảo, con sẽ diệt trừ tất cả chướng ngại không còn sót lại.

Lokanītiviyattassa, satthu saddhammanītino;

For the welfare of the Dispensation, I shall now explain the Saddanīti, which is clear,

Sāsanatthaṃ pavakkhāmi, saddanītimanākulaṃ.

The conduct of the world, and the conduct of the True Dhamma taught by the Teacher.

Saddanīti, là quy tắc ngữ pháp của bậc Đạo sư, bậc thông hiểu các quy tắc thế gian và quy tắc Chánh Pháp.

Āsavakkhayalābhena, hoti sāsanasampadā;

By attaining the destruction of the āsavas, the prosperity of the Dispensation comes about;

Sự thành tựu giáo pháp có được nhờ sự đoạn tận các lậu hoặc;

Āsavakkhayalābho ca, saccādhigamahetuko.

And the attainment of the destruction of the āsavas is due to the comprehension of the Truths.

Và sự đoạn tận các lậu hoặc là nguyên nhân của sự chứng ngộ các chân lý.

Saccādhigamanaṃ tañca, paṭipattissitaṃ mataṃ;

That comprehension of the Truths is considered to depend on practice;

Paṭipatti ca sā kāmaṃ, pariyattiparāyaṇā.

And that practice, indeed, is primarily supported by learning.

Pariyattābhiyuttānaṃ, viditvā saddalakkhaṇaṃ;

Because for those devoted to learning, when the characteristics of words are known,

Yasmā na hoti sammoho, akkharesu padesu ca.

There is no confusion regarding syllables and words.

Yasmā cāmohabhāvena, akkharesu padesu ca;

And because, due to the absence of confusion regarding syllables and words,

Pāḷiyatthaṃ vijānanti, viññū sugatasāsane.

The discerning ones understand the meaning of the Pāḷi in the Buddha's Dispensation.

Pāḷiyatthāvabodhena, yoniso satthusāsane;

Through the proper understanding of the Pāḷi meaning in the Teacher's Dispensation,

Sappaññā paṭipajjanti, paṭipattimatandikā.

The wise diligently practice the path.

Yoniso paṭipajjitvā, dhammaṃ lokuttaraṃ varaṃ;

Having practiced properly, they attain the supreme, supramundane Dhamma,

Pāpuṇanti visuddhāya, sīlādipaṭipattiyā.

Through pure practice of morality and so forth.

Tasmā tadatthikā suddhaṃ, nayaṃ nissāya viññunaṃ;

Therefore, those who aspire to this should carefully grasp the Saddanīti, spoken by me,

Bhaññamānaṃ mayā sadda-nītiṃ gaṇhantu sādhukaṃ.

A pure method for the discerning.

Dhātu dhātūhi nipphanna-rūpāni ca salakkhaṇo;

Herein, the roots (dhātu), the forms derived from roots with their characteristics,
