‘‘Ekadhammaṃ, bhikkhave, pajahatha; ahaṃ vo pāṭibhogo anāgāmitāya.
“Monks, abandon one quality; I am your guarantor for non-returning (anāgāmitā).
“Này các Tỳ-khưu, hãy từ bỏ một pháp; Ta bảo đảm cho các ông sẽ không còn tái sinh nữa (Anāgāmitāya).
Katamaṃ ekadhammaṃ?
Which one quality?
Một pháp nào?
Lobhaṃ, bhikkhave, ekadhammaṃ pajahatha; ahaṃ vo pāṭibhogo anāgāmitāyā’’ti.
Monks, abandon greed (lobha), the one quality; I am your guarantor for non-returning (anāgāmitā),”
Này các Tỳ-khưu, hãy từ bỏ một pháp là tham; Ta bảo đảm cho các ông sẽ không còn tái sinh nữa.”

Concerning this, it is said:

‘‘Yena lobhena luddhāse, sattā gacchanti duggatiṃ;
“By which greed beings are greedy,
“Do tham ái mà chúng sinh bị trói buộc,

Taṃ lobhaṃ sammadaññāya, pajahanti vipassino;
and go to a bad destination;
Chúng sinh đi vào ác đạo; các bậc có tuệ quán, sau khi hiểu rõ tham ái đó,

Pahāya na punāyanti, imaṃ lokaṃ kudācana’’nti.
The discerning ones, having fully understood that greed, abandon it.
Từ bỏ nó và sẽ không bao giờ trở lại thế giới này nữa.”

Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
Having abandoned it, they never return to this world again.”
Ý nghĩa này cũng đã được Đức Thế Tôn nói đến, tôi đã nghe như vậy.

‘‘Sabbaṃ, bhikkhave, anabhijānaṃ aparijānaṃ tattha cittaṃ avirājayaṃ appajahaṃ abhabbo dukkhakkhayāya.
"Bhikkhus, one who does not fully know, does not fully comprehend all things, who does not dispassionately detach the mind from them, who does not abandon them, is incapable of the destruction of suffering.
“Này các Tỳ-khưu, một người không biết rõ, không hiểu rõ tất cả, không đoạn trừ tâm luyến ái và không từ bỏ nó, thì không thể chấm dứt khổ đau.
Sabbañca kho, bhikkhave, abhijānaṃ parijānaṃ tattha cittaṃ virājayaṃ pajahaṃ bhabbo dukkhakkhayāyā’’ti.
But, bhikkhus, one who fully knows, fully comprehends all things, who dispassionately detaches the mind from them, who abandons them, is capable of the destruction of suffering."
Nhưng này các Tỳ-khưu, một người biết rõ, hiểu rõ tất cả, đoạn trừ tâm luyến ái và từ bỏ nó, thì có thể chấm dứt khổ đau.”

Sa ve sabbapariññā* so, sabbadukkhamupaccagā’’ti* .
That one, indeed, is one who fully comprehends all, that one has transcended all suffering."

‘‘Mānaṃ, bhikkhave, anabhijānaṃ aparijānaṃ tattha cittaṃ avirājayaṃ appajahaṃ abhabbo dukkhakkhayāya.
"Bhikkhus, one who does not fully know, does not fully comprehend conceit, who does not dispassionately detach the mind from it, who does not abandon it, is incapable of the destruction of suffering.
“Này các Tỳ-khưu, một người không biết rõ, không hiểu rõ mạn, không đoạn trừ tâm luyến ái và không từ bỏ nó, thì không thể chấm dứt khổ đau.
Mānañca kho, bhikkhave, abhijānaṃ parijānaṃ tattha cittaṃ virājayaṃ pajahaṃ bhabbo dukkhakkhayāyā’’ti.
But, bhikkhus, one who fully knows, fully comprehends conceit, who dispassionately detaches the mind from it, who abandons it, is capable of the destruction of suffering."

Mānaṃ aparijānantā, āgantāro punabbhavaṃ.
Not fully comprehending conceit, they will return to renewed existence.
Không hiểu rõ mạn, họ sẽ tái sinh trở lại.”

‘‘Ye ca mānaṃ pahantvāna, vimuttā mānasaṅkhaye;
But those who, having abandoned conceit, are liberated through the destruction of conceit;
“Những ai đã đoạn trừ mạn, được giải thoát khi mạn đã diệt tận;

Te mānaganthābhibhuno, sabbadukkhamupaccagu’’nti* .
Those, having overcome the fetter of conceit, have transcended all suffering."

Monks, a bhikkhu who attends appropriately abandons unwholesome states and develops wholesome states.”

For when the Saṅgha is divided, bhikkhus, there are quarrels among themselves, reproaches among themselves, ostracism among themselves, and abandonment among themselves.

For when the Saṅgha is harmonious, bhikkhus, there are no quarrels among themselves, no reproaches among themselves, no ostracism among themselves, and no abandonment among themselves.

Having developed a mind of loving-kindness for seven years, for seven cycles of world-contraction and expansion, I did not return to this world.

“If, monks, beings knew the result of giving and sharing as I know it, they would not eat without giving, nor would the stain of stinginess envelop their minds.

Even if it were their last morsel, their last mouthful, they would not eat it without sharing, if there were recipients for them.
Dù cho đó là miếng ăn cuối cùng, nắm cơm cuối cùng của họ, họ cũng sẽ không ăn mà không chia sẻ, nếu có người xứng đáng thọ nhận.
Yasmā ca kho, bhikkhave, sattā na evaṃ jānanti dānasaṃvibhāgassa vipākaṃ yathāhaṃ jānāmi, tasmā adatvā bhuñjanti, maccheramalañca nesaṃ cittaṃ pariyādāya tiṭṭhatī’’ti.
But because, monks, beings do not know the result of giving and sharing as I know it, they eat without giving, and the stain of stinginess envelops their minds.”
