When the Blessed One attained Parinibbāna, Venerable Ānanda uttered this verse immediately after the Parinibbāna:

“Then there was panic, then there was hair-raising horror,

when the Perfectly Self-Awakened One, endowed with all excellent attributes, attained Parinibbāna.”

On the seventh day, they asked the Elder Anuruddha,
